Hello, try to access UDOO NEO Gnome Interface from VNC but get a grey screen.
I've followed the VNC tutorial, eg launch vncserver :1 -geometry 800x600 -depth 24.
Then when I conect with VNC Viewer I get a grey screen with black cross.
In the ~/.xsession-errors file I have the following log:

Script for ibus started at run_im.

Script for default started at run_im.

I get the same: grey screen with cursor using TightVNC as the viewer.

I'm having the same grey screen issue with VNC. Assuming this is an issue with the xstartup file but haven't been able to find a solution.

Ignore the tutorial. Don't start vncserver, there is already a server called Xvnc. Connect to it without a port number and it works. The screen is grey for a few seconds and then you get the blue desktop, the same as the one on the HDMI output.

nophead, good point! Follow the Neo-Docs, where everything's explained! I guess you followed this tutorial, but it's about UDOO Dual / Quad, not about UDOO Neo.

Well yes of course I would have followed the Neo docs version had it existed at the time.

It seems odd they would be different though. Seems like most of the Ubuntu side could be exactly the same to avoid having duplicate docs and having to know about two systems. Are you going to bring them back together at some point?

Sooner or later we'll do it, but I'm afraid many people would be confused, aren't you?

The confusing thing is why the Neo is different from the quad and a raspberry pi when it comes to VNC. I was already familiar with VNC on RPi, so when I found the Udoo Quad instructions with Google, that where essentially the same, I expected them to work on the Neo as well. They work on pretty much any other Ubunto machine. I guess it is because you have installed xvnc instead of vncserver and somehow that blocks vncserver for accessing X.
