when I connect my USB external SSD it make looping disconnecting sounds and when I use my wireless mouse on it less 1 meter away from it sometime make my mouse is stuttering it just seemed it does have enough power I have the issue since I got it I should make a ticket to get a replacement it drive me nuts a video of it also I use power supply I got with it I was told it was a known issue
I have a wireless mouse connected top it with poor performance on distance. I will try to use the other USB to test the difference.
@ OP You'll have to make sure your external SSD consumes 500mA 5V or less. If not (most likely the case), use an external power supply for your SSD.
USB 3.0 should be 900 mA not 500 mA https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/USB#2.0HS same under here https://www.udoo.org/docs-gear/Hardware_References/Power_Sources.html my laptop don't have any issues with my SSD with 800 mA
It is a common seen problem for USB-powered heavy load (including instantaneous demand load), somewhere in the power-path is not up to the job. USB port itself, USB cable, USB end point device (your Orico USB3 SATA adapter) and the end device (your SATA SSD) all have to do their job correctly. Check your design with proper equipment, including brief/temporary voltage drop, to find the culprit. If you use an externally powered USB hub and the problem goes away, the issue is obvious.
Try removing wireless mouse and/or wireless keyboard use wired only to test. Wireless can cause interference, if that solves problem put wireless dongle on extension lead away from bolt USB ports. Worked for me.
