There are some people (amazing guys !) who are working hard to adapt new version of Kernel. Some new version of OS need now a minimum 3.10 version and more (for example yocto project). Perhaps it will be a good idea for UDOOTEAM to update the kernel ! Nice to have new card like the Neo but it would be a good think to have a new OS and software runs on it ...
Hi there modjo, given that Freescale has released the BSP based on the Kernel 3.10, the Neo will be based on the Kernel 3.10. Regarding UDOO Dual/Quad, we're working to release the 3.10 soon - we know it's obsolete - but I'd rather not say the date of the release yet.
We're working on the analog audio driver of the Kernel 3.10, it's the last aspect that needs to be fixed, then we will be able to release the 3.10. It will take hopefully a month. 3.10 is the most supported Kernel by Freescale, so we are headed to the 3.10 for the moment. There are already many porting of 3.14 and 3.18. After we'll release the 3.10, we'll start working on 3.14 or 3.18.
Nope, we're actually doing some great progress on the new kernel. We perfectly understand your frustration, and we're working hard on this matter. Porting a new kernel for UDOO has lots, and mean lots, of sub task which need to be achieved prior to getting to a release state. That's why is so challenging for us. We'll update you soon on this
Udoo team released 3.14 kernel : https://github.com/UDOOboard/linux_kernel. The new udoobuntoo use this kernel. best regards,
