+1 on a battery. Preferably thin custom made high capacity battery. And if that won't happen at least a ups circuit made for the udoo that supports lithium batteries. Sent from my E6553 using Tapatalk
I'd like to see a durable case. The open, acrylic case included in the Kickstarter rewards is great for workbench development and testing, but worrying for my daily, non-maker uses. (I'm thinking something similar to this sheet metal case for the original UDOO.) There really aren't any commercially-available cases for any of the UDOO boards. Almost all of the cases I've found are only available in a digital format. I get that UDOO targets makers, who likely have the ability to take these designs, or create their own, and build or print them, and that's great; but not everyone has easy access to those tools. I feel like not being able to buy a closed, durable case kind of shuts out the non-maker crowd. In my case, my UDOO Quad has been sitting in the box since I got it, because I can't readily get a decent case for it. In replying to this thread, I ended up drafting a spec for my ideal case, which seemed more appropriate in the Cases subforum: Spec for a modular case for UDOO x86 and Dual/Quad boards
Am in agreement with the battery and case options. On top of that I'd like the ability to purchase a compatible/large touchscreen - with all relevant connection cables. I can't wait for this excellent board!
I like the idea of a touch screen but 7"-10" touch screens are already largely available. And it is actually cheaper if you buy a premade tablet. ( for anyone interested in screens search for 10" USB hdmi touch screen and you will find a load of them) I would like to see a smaller maybe 6" full HD touch screen or at least 6" capacitive USB touch panel. I've already bought a full HD 6" screen in anticipation for this board but finding a compatible touch panel is next to impossible. All screens in that size are MIDI DSI and the touch is next to impossible, or at least crazy expensive, to get working. Sent from my E6553 using Tapatalk
A better case that could hold the M.2 items as well as the motherboard and some kind of battery option and then a touchscreen.
@Failzor a cooling option is the fan, already preorderable in our shop. @toriless @Failzor: I'm sad to tell you that by now there's nothing in the pipeline for a better case.
what about the case you were prototyping http://www.udoo.org/forum/threads/about-case.4336/#post-19723 ?
We've stopped prototyping a case different than the acrylic case and we won't probably start again anytime soon. Honestly there's nothing in the pipeline about making a new case.
I believe UDOO plan to release a NIC accessory that uses the PCIe bus. I'm not sure of the intended release date.
Thank you for the reply Laura. I'll wait to see when they release it. Otherwise I think I found a m.2 card that will do the job http://www.dpie.com/m.2/m.2-ethernet-cardsswitches/innodisk-egpl-g201 Thank you again Sent from my E6853 using Tapatalk
An IO prototype shield like this https://www.adafruit.com/product/51 but with access for the double row headers. Also usable for the Udoo Neo. Or a double row screw shield to attach wires with a screw connector. https://www.adafruit.com/product/196
