Hi! I'm a software developer and electronics enthusiast, been doing stuff with Arduinos and Raspberry Pis for a while now and thought that having them both on one PCB was inspired!

I'm excited about the potential of a car-puter with a touchscreen, running Android for navigation / music playing but also hooked into the car doing data-logging etc.

I was wondering when forums would go live (The Sub-Reddit has been overly quiet).

My name's Bryan, but you'll find me online as XBrav everywhere. I work in Alberta, Canada on Oil and Gas automation design and programming. I work on a lot of electronics outside the office, and the Udoo really stood out as the next programming platform for me.

I'm hoping to see more finalized details on the Udoo's design in the coming weeks, including poly fuse limits on the USB ports.

Outside of electronics, I am also a major player in all groups online related to the TV series ReBoot.

Hey people! I'm from Ventura County , CA, I will be graduating from high school next week and plan to get a computer science related degree in college. I purchased a UDOO board because I already have a Raspberry Pi and Arduino board, but I really wanted a more powerful board for what I do. The added in Arduino is just a bonus! Can't wait to get mine!

 

I'm in the USA, Pennsylvainia actually. I love arduinos and other microcontrollers. I love making things with electronics. cant wait for the store to open, I missed the kickstarter.

 

Hi Maetto ! I'm considering to asking you to open the pool for questioning about possibility to change Bluetooth Stretch Goal to 2GB RAM module goal. Do you think it is possible ? Because I think many UDOO'ers would lovely accept 2GB RAM module than USB Bluetooth dongle. It's obvious that you can buy BT but RAM can not.

Hi all!

I'm Mike Kopack, a Software engineering currently working for a Robotics R&D group at a Fortune 500 company. I have several Raspberry Pi units that I've played around with, and have built several Arduino-based robots over the last 2 years during my involvement with the Atlanta Hobby Robotics Club. I recently moved to Cherry Hill, NJ though.

My hope is that my experience with the Udoo ends up better than the Pandaboard ES I bought (and sold) last year - that thing was HORRIBLE with basically no community around it helping support it, and they expected everyone using it to be a Linux guru. I hope this community ends up more of a mixed group like the Raspberry Pi forums - a healthy mix of experienced and beginner users who all help each other. I'm also hopeful that there will be a stripped down version of Linux available for the Udoo - like there is Raspbian for the R-Pi. One of my biggest frustrations with the Pandaboard was that it was difficult to get an OS on it that didn't suck up 1/2 the RAM just to boot it. Ubuntu was pretty much a pig on it.

In terms of project plans for the Udoo, I have several:

* brain for a small robot
* center of a homemade home security/surveillance system
* teaching tool for when I do work with teens related to robotics

Anyhow, looking forward to plenty of interesting conversations with all of you, and can't wait to get my Quad Kit.

(Oh, and +1 for switching to a 2GB RAM if possible - we can always buy our own $5 BT USB module...)

Hi, my name is Jon and I'm from Northwestern Ontario, Canada. My biggest passion is learning from nature and gardening, but I also seem to have a passion for most other things, including electronics/programming/etc. I guess I am just curious about everything and try not to leave a stone unturned. I am pretty excited to test out all kinds of Udoo applications and can't decide where to start. I like designing and fabricating things, so maybe I will start by building a nice enclosure for it while I decide what to do first! Also, I'm not sure whether the 2GB RAM discussion is open or not, but I would definitely throw down my vote on the RAM upgrade. I'm happy to be part of this community and look forward to seeing it grow!

Hi all, 'am Venkat, from the California Bay Area. Developing recent interest in IoT... Can't wait the UDOO Quad ;!) Would love to see 2GB RAM instead of the BT dongle support. Would really contend well with other Quad core systems like the Ordroid-U2, Wandboard Quad, etc.

 

Howdy, Folks! I'm Joe and I live in East Texas, USA. I'm an EE retired from a Communications & Electronics career of 35+ years, the last 22 of which was with the federal government doing communications and electronic evidence gathering. I've alway been an electronic hobbiest, too, and have played (and worked) with computers and assembly code since 1980 or so. Did my first microcontroller project in 1994, was a NiCad/NMh battery charger/cycler based on a PIC uController with an A/D converter. Have been playing with Arduino's for just a few months now and was and still am thrilled how easy they make HW and SW design. I too am looking towards a vehicular do-it-all computer based on an UDOO. I also had been in radio controlled helicopters since 1991 and am playing with quadcopters and semi-autonomous flight controllers (the 3DR APM 2.5). Whew - sorry for the long post, I've become long-winded since I became an old fart!

I`m also an Artist & have been using Arduinos to create slitscan cameras .. but i`ve run into storage issues so the Quad Udoo sounds great with Sata!!

 

nice I built a hexocopter myself using a arduino mega, theres a aeroquad 3.0 shield that is supposed to support the due, so it should support the udoo as well.

 

Hi! I'm Esteban Ortiz. I'm an electrical engineer from Costa Rica. My full time job is at Intel Corporation (9 years), where I have spent the majority of time in microprocessor design/validation/testing, but I also teach at the University of Costa Rica. Right now we have a new class called "Embedded Systems Programming", where students have been playing around with lots of different boards: beagleboards, pandaboard, snowball and some high end stuff like the Intel Fish River Island 2. My main interest with the UDOO is education, and making sure the next generation of engineers can tackle whatever life throws at them.

I'm Doug Jackson from Australia. I am one of the Kickstarter backers and am very much looking forward to getting my hands onto one of these boards.

My background is in Digital Electronics, and I run a small business that makes clocks as my hobby (http://www.dougswordclock.com). I am an active member of Instructables.com (http://www.instructables.com/member/drj113). By day, I am an Information Security consultant (But that's booring!)

I have enjoyed playing with other embedded boards (Raspberry Pi, and Pandaboard), probably because they have so much extra power than the normal embedded AtMega and PIC devices that I have been playing with.

In a recent Instructables post, I detailed how I made a programmer rig for the DeskClock boards that I make. To drive it, I used a Pi built in a neat frame. The biggest challenge was to get out of the weeds where I normally would be, and start treating the board as a Linux system. I vividly remember while interfacing the 1.8" display to the Pi that it was frustrating, because 'in the old' days, I would have just slapped in a 2 line 16 character LCD, and written to the thing. Instead, because I was actually using a Linux system, I had to do the physical interfacing, then modify the kernel, then learn how to write to a Frame Buffer device. (Thankfully others had trodden that path before me and Google was my friend). In the end, the result that I achieved was an order of magnitude better than what I would have had with a PIC and a 2 line LCD... So that's a good thing.

Anyway - it's great to be here - I am waiting patiently till they start shipping, then we will be off and running! Hopefully, these forums will start to peak as the boards are sent out.
