Hello, did somebody try if Netflix is working on a Linux based distribution? Somebody on the Kickstarter page mentioned it does not work for him (on windows 10) because of some kind of DRM module: "For some reason Netflix refuses to play video with all the help pages pointing to a drm option which is already enabled..." Also, if possible, can somebody check if Amazon Prime Video is working in HD? Ìf not, this would be a huge bummer... Thanks & BR, Onek
This should work (not tested myself). You will need an updated installation of Google Chrome (not Chromium; and make sure to choose the right package for your machine) https://askubuntu.com/questions/1488/how-can-i-use-netflix-on-ubuntu/509947#509947
I am running Netflix flawlessly on an Ubuntu based x86_64 Linux machine right now, as you said with Google Chrome. Just wondering about that DRM module. On Amazon Prime Video I can't get HD because it somehow checks hardware and installed software and, for whatever reason, is not satisfied with the results. Would be great if somebody already having a board could test this.
I can test when I get home. I have Linux Mint installed. I see no reason why it wouldn't work, the Udoo x86 is just like any other desktop x86 when it comes to CPU.
Linux Mint 18.1 running on the Udoo x86 running Chrome Version 58.0.3029.81 (64-bit). The Udoo is hooked to a 1080p monitor via a HDMI to VGA adapter. So there is no DHCP, but the max I've gotten on Netflix was 720p. Both Netflix and Amazon Prime work great otherwise. http://imgur.com/dBFLEgE http://imgur.com/84a8Ab2 Edit: I can try hooking it up to a 4k tv via hdmi and see how it works out tomorrow. Will post with an update.
Thank you kindly, that's great news. I was worried for a second there - streaming is one of the tasks Udoo x86 should do for me.
I know the thread is for Linux, but I just want to comment that I can use netflix without problem in Windows 10 Pro with HDMI
