The existing heatsink is pretty hot under basic Windows 10 load and I'm not convinced it's secured on well with those spring things that go in the PCB holes. I am looking to hack up the provided heatsink. Before I do, does anyone know where I can get another as backup? What I really want is a slightly wider and shorter heatsink. Maybe if it's low enough, I could put a slim 40 mm fan on it. I figure I'll secure it with thermal tape or screw it down to those 2 holes with nylon bolts.
If you check the UDOO X86 documentation pages, there is the hardware documentation http://udoo.org/download/files/mechanical_specs/udoo_x86_3d_model_revH.zip Inside that zip is the heatsink details.
@Jetguy - thanks! I breezed right by that... If they had a true 3D model, I'd take a crack at using a CNC to make a modified part. So far, I like the depth of information UDOO has provided on a lot of things like connector part numbers, schematics and what not. I cannot say anything about the software since I haven't done much besides play with the examples to do a system validation/shake down.
