The instructions are not very clear on how to install the system. I am having trouble getting Linux installed and would appreciate any tips.
What I did was create a bootable 4gb USB flash drive containing Ubuntu 16.04.2 from an ISO image on a Win10 PC using the free Rufus utility. Then Inserted the flash drive in my UDOO x86 and when you power-on the UDOO it will boot from the USB, and Ubuntu will ask if you want to install it. I installed Ubuntu on the 32gb M.2 SSD drive and when that completes remove the USB flash drive and the UDOO reboots and runs Ubuntu.
Nice step by step manual is for example on https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop/create-a-usb-stick-on-windows I used it to install Arch.
Thanks for the information. I installed Ubuntu 16.04.2 on the 128 M.2 SSD. When I reboot, however, it doesn't boot up Ubuntu. Is there a way to start it?
Had very little trouble installing Ubuntu mate 17.04. Did you enter the BIOS to reorder the boot devices properly?
Hi there @cynthia, have you followed the video guide of UDOO X86? There is also the get-started guide in written format that we've released. Could you please clarify what's not clear in these guides so we can fix it?
Two problems I noticed so far: guide tells to go to https://goo.gl/dyld0A which is in Italian, not in English guide tells to download 16.10 which is not available from there (newer 17.04 has huge problem with DNS so it would be nice to have link to ENGLISH page where 16.10 can actually be downloaded)
Thanks for pointing out the mistakes, an updated guide will be online as soon as possible. For the moment, the download link of Ubuntu 16.10 is here: http://releases.ubuntu.com/16.10/ You have to click on "64-bit PC (AMD64) desktop image"
Worked for me on initial install without updates during installation, but would not boot after updates??? Will try again without updating system ....
