How have you solved on off? Just solder a

On off switch to pin 6 and 8?

 

Press the existing power button?

 

Pressing that does nothing.

 

It works OK for me! If the UDOO is powered on with LED green then it is powered off and the LED changes to Amber to indicate power present but UDOO powered off. Pressing it again causes the LED to turn green and the UDOO starts booting. The button is very small, though, so can be a bit fiddly to press.

 

I'm using one of these.

yes pin 6 is the open and pin 8 is the ground for pin 6 on the header.

 

Could not find that in the user manuals?

 

On the board edge right next to the LED.

 

Bummer. I'll have to start soldering then. Since with the supplied enclosure I'll have to get a little rod to push that button.

 

Pity they don't sell connectors for the speakers...and optional frontpanet switches indicators et al...in their own shop. I'm having problems finding the parts...elsewhere.

 

I don't need anything to press the power button with the acrylic case. The one on the EDGE, not the top one below the hole.

If you press the button on the edge below the LED while it is green and fail to see any response, it can indicate that the X86 board is being back-fed through the USB port to which you've attached a separately powered USB hub. To test, disconnect the USB hub, and press On/Off button; the LED should turn amber.

 

I retested power button again and now it is working in Debian Stretch. It didn't work last time I tried, but I don't remember what the exact situation was then.

Still I prefer to have also additional button on a cable (adafru.it/1125) like what @Laurence showed above so I can cut all power to UDOO X86.

 

Why soldering? Can't you use a Dupont connector/header? I have added a power button with led (used for HDD activity or Power) like that.

I recycled them for years from old computers, until i decided to search for their actual name

I found the external button but this forum does not like my phone and won't let me paste the link to it. I've search external front panel pc button and got it that way.
