Hello, I am new here in the forum. Therefore, a short presentation. I am Daniel 29 years old and I am from Germany. I have a Udoo X86 Advanced Board. Now to my problem I have unfortunately 2 capacitors on the board demolished. I was careless when tightening the screw. I could solder the capacitors again. The board works so far synonymous. What is the function of the two capacitors? Would it be bad if these were not Perfect soldered? In the picture I encircled the two capacitors in red. Sorry for my bad English Thank you! Oh boy, thats a bummer. Use: I realy don't know. Normally they are used for stabilisation. These 2 capacitors are in the DDR circuit, see schematics page 10 you can download from the other resources page. I suppose with a good solder iron you could resolder these capacitors. But be sure you solder them correctly. Capacitors have polarity.
I'm going to perform a RAM test, good idea. I did not know this documentation yet. That helps me further, thanks. These are ceramic capacitors, these are bipolar. I will still report from the RAM test. Many Thanks!
I deleted my post about RAM test - I don't really know if it's safe to use the board with capacitors out or badly soldered. But if you want to take the risk and use the board, then definitely test RAM. Alternatively if you are not in a hurry you could create ticket at https://www.udoo.org/customer-care/ to get better answer (but these are taking quite long currently).
I don't see the component designator there, but they are probably used as a filter to carry noise in that part of the circuit to ground. So long as they are making contact with their pads you won't notice any difference.
Don't feel bad... I did the same thing when I received my 1080 graphics card. Day I got it I went to remove the stock cooler so I could set it up for water cooling... Knocked 2 tiny tiny caps off the board. Luckily I knew somebody who owns a circuit repair/assembly shop and he had one of his techs fix it for me. No way I could have done it. Too small!
