Hi there, I recently received my x86 ultra and I'm struggling installing Android x86 on it. I downloaded the latest build from android-x86.org which is 7.1-rc1, flashed ISO to micro SD. Booting from uSD gives me 4 options: 3 of them Live CD, and the last one installation. Went through installation steps (creating and formatting partition to ext4, etc.). Everything looks good so far. However, after reboot and choosing another boot device (the one that supposed to have installed Android), I got to the same menu again: 3 options with Live CD and installing on harddrive. I played a lot trying all possible combinations, I tried to install from uSD to eMMC, to M.2SSD with the same result. Does anyone was lucky to install Android N on x86? (Not running Live CD) Btw, live CD works fine, no issues with WiFi and setuping an account. The only issue is that I'm not able to actually install it which is very frustrating :-/
Hi! I run in the same isse and I solved in the following way: 1. Using GParted live remove any existing partition from the MMC drive 2. Create a MSDOS partition tale (GPT is the evil, don't use GPT!) 3. Download the latest Android-x86 image (I used 7.2-rc2 64bit). 4. I prepared a usb pen drive using the same procedure used for removable MMC in UDOO Quad / UDOO Neo 5. Boot the UDOO X86 Ultra with the usb pen drive in one of the available USB ports and press ESC to enter in the firmware menu 6. Select SKU and navigate to the boot menu. Choose the dual boot. Save and exit. 7. Reboot. Press ESC to enter in the firmware menu. Select Boot manager. 8. Choose the usb pen drive from the EFI section. Important: EFI ! 9. Android starts booting. Choose to install on the hard drive. 10. Select the Create/Modify partition options. Again: DON'T USE GPT! 11. Create a primari partition of 100 Mb. Type EF (as EFI). 12. Create another primary partition big as the rest of the device 13. Type 83 (if for any reason you can't change, 82 is ok). 14. Mark this partition as bootable. 15. Write everything and exit. 16. Install Android on the second primary partition (the bigger, the bootable one) 17. Choose to format as ext4 18. Choose to install GRUB 19. Choose to have system in read/write 20. Wait a minute. 31. Reboot. Press ESC. Remove the usb pen drive. Boot again. 32. You should have Android-86 up and running *** Important *** be sure (running android in live mode) that your wify is fully recognised by android before installing. I hope it helps. Raffaele
