I have a SanDisk SD6SP1M256G1012 M.2 SSD that I got from eBay. As I understand it, it's a repurposed laptop drive. I generally don't have any data integrity issues, as far as I'm aware, but as the system stays up, the dmesg log fills up with tons of errors like this:
    Code:

I'm finding through google that these sorts of errors are common when a SATA disk doesn't get enough power or possibly when the drive is dying. I used smartctl from smartmontools to do some diagnostics on the disk, but the results are not very illuminating and the disk looks fine to me, unless I'm misinterpreting the results.

Any suggestions on how to proceed? Should I just get rid of this drive and get a Transcend?

Yes the results seem all OK.

    Some ideas:

Did you run SMART tests yourself with switches like "-t offline" and "-t long"? If not, do that and check status again (wait 10 minutes after starting long test before checking status).

Also check drive information of whether it requires 12V or 3.3V -- UDOO X86 only provides 5V which usually is all that an SSD requires.

How powerful power source you have with UDOO X86, are you sure it gives enough power?

    Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I ran the tests manually and waited until they completed.

I'm having trouble finding information on my disk to see the power consumption. I'll keep looking. The model is SanDisk X110 256gb M.2 2260, if anyone knows where I can look to find the power requirements.

The power supply should be sufficient - I'm using the UDOO 12V 3A power source.

Oh sorry, I didn't notice it was M.2 -- I was speaking about normal SATA power connector which in UDOO only provides 5V.
