Thinking about making a PS for the UDoo and hard Drive and fan bank etc in a custom 1u case. Thoughts? Universal 12V 24-360W 2/5/10/20/30A Switching Power Supply Driver for LED Strip https://www.ebay.com/itm/222316447845?var=521160668449 and 5.5 X 2.1mm Barrel Power 12V Male DC Power Jack Adapter Plug https://www.ebay.com/itm/152782116388 Then I can add power for the Harddrive with the other connectors. this PS should have enough power for lots of stuff.
Tolerance on Output 12V is 10%. Udoo X86 needs +/- 5%. It depends on how you interpret this tolerance of the power supply but it can be out of spec.
Power supply designed for LED strip has very poor output voltage regulation and high ripple. They cheap out on the output side filter capacitors (picked a small value, LED does not care too much...) Once you find a proper model (even a low-end power supply unit cheap out), add a large cap (say 2000uF - 4700uF 25V) on the DC output side.
OH Good info. I did not buy it I was just looking. I would be happy to use the udoo power supply. I guess I will take it apart and see if it fits into my 1ru enclosure and then add a PS for the hard drive seperate inside. I dont know the tollarences and the large cap thing went over my head.
