Hello everyone, I just want to share my hack to use the Udoo x86 as a video processing device with legacy hardware.

With a small saw and a cutter, I notched the B-key on a M-key riser off eBay, then I was able to tap into one PCI-express lane of the udoo and use a PCI-express to PCI-32bit adapter and finally connect a legacy 4 channel composite video grabber (Adlink PCI-RTV24) and use it with OpenCV under Win10.

    Everything works! :)

    M.2 riser:

This small board exposes on PCIe lane with an USB connector
The blue board is a SSD.

    Final result (sketchy AF):

I thought that there were 2 lanes. I'll have to look again. If you have it working, could you post comparitive rspeed results, compared to another full tilt PC? I have been pondering an outboard video card for numerical processing (Software Defined Radio).

    Thank you,
    Ed

That NGFF type-B slot has 2 PCIe 2.0 lanes.

The eBay link M.2 riser board only has 1-lane PCIe possibility due the fact that it only uses one USB connector as the bus extension method.
