Hi all, today we tested Freedomotic, our domotic framework, on UDOO Quad Core using the Debian LXDE image. It requires JDK that can be installed following the guide at viewtopic.php?f=19&t=315. The first results are promising comparing with RaspberryPi (using java hardfp jdk). The GUI is not yet optimized for embedded systems but we are working on it and we are developing a gwt client. We need more testers and developers so if you want to contribute you are welcome. To test the software, after preparing the system with jdk, download the last dailybuid from http://code.google.com/p/freedomotic/downloads/list, unzip it and start with Code: java -jar freedomotic.jar In the future we'll update this post with more info. Udoo can be a good domotic hardware platform.
Sounds promising and like a good use case, thanks for keep us updated, look forward to the progress. Im sure as more boards get into the wild more interest will grow in using them as an automation platform. Thanks
Thanks DracoLlasa! This is the first execution on Udoo using Debian LXDE image, JDK 7 softfp. There is a problem with screen resolution fixed at 720x440. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lh9DuGPvmbg
I thought the Debian build was hard float? Why are you using the soft float Java 7 implementation then? (Open JDK or the Oracle one?) Also, what's the error message (looks like a Java stack trace) that pops up at the start ?
Hi I'm using soft float because the Debian build is soft as reported in this topic viewtopic.php?f=19&t=315 The error at start is related to a missing router when I made the video.
Ok I think the question is, are you using ags's hard float Debian (see the wiki) or the other one (which is soft float)?
I'm using Debian Wheezy Softfloat with LXDE and Vivante graphical acceleration (author miusername) http://sourceforge.net/projects/minimal ... p/download I'll try with the minimal hard float.
Hi all, I solved the resolution problem. We are optimizing the software for embedded systems but we have already good results. Here some photos (running on Debian LXDE)
We are creating a very complete domotic framework. And open source at zero cost! We already support many solutions by specific plugins http://freedomotic.com/plugins and other are in progress. It's a hard work so we need more developers, testers etc. All our activities (new features, bug fixing) are traced on http://freedomotic.myjetbrains.com/yout ... Release5.5 Now we need Udoo testers for Dual Core (I tried on Quad Core) and an hard float system to evaluate performances and optimize the system. Any contribute is welcome!
See told ya.. Im also interested in how this thread evolves will be very cool to see a nice automation platform for the UDOO
Hi, we made new tests on debian harmhf and oracle jdk 7 hf embedded. Good performances. Take a look at this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t0CSgXEzJ4 Regards
I am happy to see this project is progressing for Udoo. Freedomotic or a similar automation platform was my entire purpose for trying an Udoo. I have had some sucess with the debian install and can get it to work, I am just in the early days of experimenting with it.
Hi freedomotic, It's wonderfull your project! I would to develop with udoo a similar application! It could be very intresting with a phone application command remotely this interfaces through internet! Is it possible with freedomotic?
Hi miousername, thanks! What do you mean exactly? A mobile client or an existing app to interact with freedomotic? Let me know. Now I'm working on a plugin for razberry: http://freedomotic.com/content/plugins/zway Happy new year!
Hi, we started an android client some time ago but now it's in stand-by and not aligned with the last versions. We are focused on the core and also we need more developers to manage all required tasks. We think to resume it in the next development cycle. Are you and Android developer? Take a look at http://code.google.com/p/freedomotic-android-client/ Regards
Hello, after a long period of braimstorming, work, testing the new Freedomotic version is ready. From the previous release we introduced a new codename based on famous books, movies and cartoons robots. Now is the time of Bender, the robot character in the animated television series Futurama. (to learn more http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bender_%28Futurama%29 ) Thanks to the development team for its effort and to users that have contributed with their suggestions, testing, reporting. There is a lot of work to do, many many features for the next release. We need the help of all, so join our community and contribute to the development. We have a new source code repository on GitHub https://github.com/freedomotic/freedomotic DOWNLOAD Bender from http://www.freedomotic.com/content/download
