After several hours of troubleshooting, I still can't get my V8 to boot correctly. Current state: it boots to a blank purple Ubuntu screen. Things I've done so far: Installed 20.04 from USB to NVME SSD. It booted once, but never again. Just straight to the BIOS. Tried re-configuring BIOS according to some threads in the forums Installed 20.04 to the eMMC, which booted once successfully (with BIOS restored to orig settings) It's really disappointing to spend hundreds of dollars on something that you can't get to work out of the box.
Okay, so I'e cooled down and tried some new things which have worked. With OS installed on eMMC... - unplugged all hard drives - rebooted, nothing on screen - switched from using the USB-C connector to HDMI, image is up - shutdown - install one drive, reboot - format drive, reboot, it shows - install 2nd drive, boot up - that one shows, but the 1st one doesn't - format the first drive - reboot - both drives show up Seems like the screen issues were related to the USB-C port. HDMI is more reliable. As for the drives, I have no idea why what caused these issues but they seem to be stable now. PS - you will need to add permissions to your drives if you use ext4 like I did.
@css_hello here is a pic for you. FWIW after sitting all night not being used, my UDOO now boots up to a grub command prompt. :|
Also, pls try - disable eMMC when loading the OS to NVMe - do not install NVMe when loading OS to eMMC to see if booting to the OS could work.
