Hi, i'am actually use 5Volts/2A for runnig an Ubuntu System on a quadcore udoo. At the moment (i still beginning) nothing is wrong. The system is runnig...... But i ask myself (and now the community too) : what's the official requirements for minimum voltage and minimum consumption? I have it not found at the web. Any suggestions? Thank you for support me. Greetings Martin
thank you for answering. Additional question: why can't find this information in your documentation? I read some thinks about 12 Volts in the www, and the next question is depend: whats the maximum Voltage, that i can use. Best greetings Martin
It's in the faq section: http://www.udoo.org/faq-items/what-are- ... uirements/ we'll add the info in the documentation section though.
I have a similar question. I am powering the Udoo board through the external power JST, so that I can also power a peripheral from the same power adapter (but without running its current through the Udoo board). This peripheral needs 12V/1A. I am guessing that Udoo's recommendation for a 12V/2A power adapter does not take the needs of this peripheral into account, but I don't know how to estimate what I really need. Would you recommend 12V/3A, or should 12V/2A still be fine for my situation? Thanks!
I've never seen the Udoo itself pull more than 10W (0.83A @ 12V) at full load, so 2A total should be OK... but you don't necessarily want to be loading down a power supply to the max either. Some are rated a little optimistically, or for peak rather than continuous load. 3A would give more of a safety margin.
Yeah, general rule - If you're trying to use 1 supply to handle 2 items, both at teh same voltage, take the expected Amps input to each and add them together... 1+2 =3A minimum... Also usually helps to go bigger just in case (as others above have noted).
well i did a stupid thing , i plugged in my laptop adapter 19v 200w in my udoo quad . i found out like 2 hours later that it was the wrong adapter i do not know if the board is damaged , is there a way to check it ? sometimes my screen turns off and on via hdmi , dont know if the driver is damaged .
Well if the board turns on is already a good sign. Paste here the serial output when the screen turns off and on. Have you tried with a different cable and power adapter? What happens if you change the microSD? The problem is still there?
