@stecolumna A SD card that is not used and not mounted will never ever give problems, for the OS it is as if it is not in the SD card slot at all....
I cannot think of any OS that would have a problem with 'unused and unmounted'.
On Linux you could do without if you have a working network connection and check if the boot order of the services are right.
Connect a keyboard and a monitor, stop grub from booting and supply the correct boot parameters. For CentOS this article might be useful.
