P.S. Folks, this post is not by me, is by @Marco Schiff who kindly ask me to share it because he was having problems opening the topic. I have been trying since I received my udoo neo extended to start an ad-hoc connection but I continually receive the error that you can see in 'attachment.. I wonder if anyone has a solution to activate it via code or if someone knows it's hardware that does not support it, and so there is nothing to do.. I found this old post: http://udoo.org/forum/threads/android-access-point-tethering.1458/ in which someone was trying to solve the problem with another udoo board by giving me some hope but there is no final solution. Thank you to all
Is there a difference between an ad-hoc network and a WiFi access point created with hostapd ? I was thinking about using hostap to setup a WIFI acesss point on the neo so that I can connect to it using my phone. That way I can bootstrap the neo (then go to the web console, select a proper wifi SSID and your udoo is connected). Are there any plans to offer that as a default ? (much like you can now hook up a usb cable and connect to 192.168.7.2 you could do the same by opening up a WIFI AP if none has been configured yet as part of the bootstrapping process)
Dear ddewaele, we are working on this stuff and considering the matter but supporting this is still uncertain, I cannot ensure you anything for the future. Cheers
Is it really possible to create an ad-hoc network with UDOO Neo using Wi-Fi Direct? One has to disable the wpa_supplicant to make Wi-Fi Direct work which disables the client mode. Whereas from what I understand in ad-hoc network every node/board can work as both an AP and client. Isn't it so?
