Hi Folks, I'm an Android newbie here. I realize the answer may not be simple...but the question is. If I load Udoo Neo with the latest Android image provided by Udoo...will I immediately be able to use the Google Play Store? Or is it more complicated than that?
I suppose not, but to be sure we have to wait for the official release. See also this discussion about android on Udoo quad http://udoo.org/forum/index.php?threads/327/
No, the answer is no. The problem is about price. If you wanna make these apps available you have to pay. Check this: http://www.zdnet.com/article/android-oem-requirements-unveiled/ (obviously this is just a post on a blog, but I lack more intern I must admit this is still obscure to me, but this is what I know. As far as I know only licensed OEMs can (actually, must) preinstall Google Apps into the device. As you can imagine, this would increase the cost of the device. Moreover, as far as I know, Google is not so welcoming towards products that are commercialized in so little numbers as SBCs are (apart from Pi, obviously). However here's our guide for Gapps: http://www.udoo.org/docs/Android/How_To_Install_Gapps_On_UDOO_Running_Android.html
I'm also wondering about this issue, I installed the app that received the alerts not support for the device
