Hi guys! I am opening this topic to discuss altogether about BETaaS, a UDOO-based project funded by the European Commission (and with partners like HP) which aims to build the open-source platform behind the Internet of Things. You can read about it in our blog: http://www.udoo.org/betaas-now-you-can- ... your-udoo/. BETaaS is based on a dedicated Linux distro: UDOOBETaaS. http://www.hackster.io/betaas-consortium/udoo-betaas1 I hope Carlo Vallati, the team leader behind BETaaS, will show up and nurture the discussion. It would be a dream come true to create the Internet of Things with an open-source infrastructure, but to realize such expecations we need your feedbacks and contributions. Everyone is important to build the future!
Re: BETaaS: let's build the open-source platform behind the Hello everyone!! Thanks Andrea for introducing us! BETaaS, Building the Environment for the Things-as-a-Service http://www.betaas.eu, is an FP7 European project that aims at creating the fabric of software for the future IoT platforms. Our goal is to ease the process of creating new IoT systems and new M2M applications through our software, available open source on github https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Platform-Tools. The platform is based on a distributed architecture which can enable different devices to cooperate to form a horizontal platform to allow applications to access things, like sensors or actuators, through a unified interface regardless of the location or the technology. The platform allows the integration of existing technologies and protocols through the specification of plugins. For example Constrained Application Protocol (CoAP) enabled sensors can be integrated using an existing CoAP plugin, https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Platform-Tools/blob/master/betaas-docs/github/coap-plugin-how-to.md. Here you can find the documentation https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Platform-Tools/tree/master/betaas-docs regarding the platform, along with some HOWTOs and tutorials on how to start using the platform https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Pl...er/betaas-docs/github/installationofBETaaS.md and how to run an example application https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Pl...taas-docs/github/how-to-IntrusionDetection.md To start you can also use InstantBetaas https://github.com/BETaaS/BETaaS_Pl...er/betaas-docs/github/how-to-instantbetaas.md, a virtual machine that has the BETaaS platform already configured and installed.
