So I went to radioshack yesterday and by some crazy stroke of luck they had arduino ethernet shields. I'm trying to configure Ubuntu to be a network firewall/gateway for my network. I suppose I just figured the ethernet shield to be plug and play, but I don't know how to configure it so that it is addressable in Ubuntu. The shield shows up and I can see the lights blinking on the shield itself notifying connectivity however it won't grab an IP from the modem. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I'm pretty sure this is a total noob question but I've only just started working with Linux so I'm trying to learn.
