Hi! It is only today that I unpacked my UDOO x86. Now I want to intall Archlinux on the eMMC.
It seems that there is already some contents:
    Code:
    root@archiso ~ # ls -l /dev/{sd,mmc}*
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 0 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/mmcblk0
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 8 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/mmcblk0boot0
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 16 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/mmcblk0boot1
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 1 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/mmcblk0p1
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 179, 24 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/mmcblk0rpmb
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 0 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/sda
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 1 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/sda1
    brw-rw---- 1 root disk 8, 2 Aug 11 10:32 /dev/sda2
    root@archiso ~ # for d in /dev/{sd,mmc}*; do n=${d##*/}; mkdir $n; mount /dev/$n $n/ || rmdir $n; done &>/dev/null; df -hT */
Filesystem Type Size Used Avail Use% Mounted on
    /dev/mmcblk0p1 ext2 1.9M 1.1M 789K 58% /root/mmcblk0p1
    /dev/sda2 vfat 64M 46M 19M 72% /root/sda2
    root@archiso ~ # ls -la */
    mmcblk0p1/:
    total 1045
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 1024 Mar 1 2012 .
    drwx------ 1 root root 140 Aug 11 10:47 ..
    drwx------ 2 root root 12288 Mar 1 2012 lost+found
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1048576 Mar 1 2012 out.dat
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 7 Mar 1 2012 TAG
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4 Mar 1 2012 TAG.dat
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 10 Mar 1 2012 TAG.txt

    sda2/:
    total 20
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 16384 Jan 1 1970 .
    drwx------ 1 root root 140 Aug 11 10:47 ..
    drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 2048 Jul 1 07:10 EFI
    drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 2048 Jul 1 07:10 loader
So sda2 is obviously my Archlinux USB installation media.
What about mmcblk0? What are those “TAG*” and “out.dat” files? What are mmcblk0boot0, mmcblk0boot1, and mmcblk0rpmb, that do not seem to be recognized by mount?

And most importantly, is it safe to just reformat /dev/mmcblk0 with fdisk?

It is a test partition that Udoo creates to check the Udoo X86 before leaving the factory.
You can safely remove this partion with for example the application GParted.
