The eMMC module on my UDOO Bolt keeps giving me issues. It crashes the system under Windows (unless I disable it), and it's causing kernel panics during boot-up with Fedora 35 (kernel 5.16.9-200.fc35.x86_64). I'm pretty much done with it, and I want to kill it so it doesn't give me more issues. So far, I've been unable to find an option in the BIOS to disable it. I can configure it to run as PIO/SDMA/ADMA mode, and set it to floppy/HDD mode, but flat-out disabling it is not an option as far as I can see. Next step would be to kill the power to the chip. That's hopefully doable without killing the board. Does anyone know if this is possible, and how to do this?
I was ready to throw out the Bolt V8 due to all of the issues related to emmc. My 'fix' to this issue was to de-solder the emmc. Hot air gun and patience was needed. You may be able to do it with a soldering iron or a heat mat. There has been no adverse effects after emmc chip removal.
