I did some research on the iMX6 and found the HDMI output is version 1.4a. Which suggest it has HEC(Ethernet over HDMI), ARC(Audio return channel), CEC(Consumer Electronic Control), up to 8 channels of digital audio(LPCM/192Khz/24 bit audio), and various flavors of video formats. So does the UDOO Quad and OpenELEC output at least Blu-Ray quality video and audio? i.e. 1080, 5.1 audio at least, I'm hoping for 7.1 audio!
Any updates about this topic? I would like to have openelec (not to mention kodi) running on udoo quad. I've dowloaded and flashed the OpenELEC-imx6.arm-5.95.3-udoo_quad-v01 but it doesn't boot (for instance, android booted with the same uSD card). I've tried to download the OpenELEC-imx6.arm-5.95.2-udoo_quad-v01 but i land on a 404 page. Any chance to have a media player SO for the udoo quad? Tks.
You can try http://vpeter.libreelec.tv/imx6-solidrun-kernel-3.14/LibreELEC-imx6.arm-8.2.3-udoo-3.14-sr.img.gz
You are welcome. There will be no more recent images because support for imx6 was removed in Kodi. Maybe it will be back in 2020.
Hi @vpeter! Sorry to bother with this old topic - I am trying to give new life to my udoo-quad and I was trying your image. It works great with HDMI I am now trying to use the lvds, I un-commented the line: #video=mxcfb0:dev=ldb,1368x768M@60,if=RGB24,bpp=32 but I can't get the screen ligthing up (I can feel the touch screen sensor receives power) Do you have any hints/suggestion on how to debug it? I am now trying to enable debug in the /flash/uEnv.txt and see if by serial I can read any log. Thanks!
