I'm using J12 (JST-2) connector. With normal WD Black 500GB work fine. But not work with Seagate 256GB SSD. I think about wait other people test with their SSD and buy a working model.
is the ground on you JST-2 connector wired to all the ground pins in the Sata power connector ? I was wiring up a Sata power connector for my Udoo and needed to connect 2 wires to my ground. I'm really hoping you get that Vertex 2 working because Newegg has some refurb. models for dirt cheap. Hoping to see some more success stories.
Hi Kris, On the UDOO board, where are you getting the 12v (VIN) and 3.3V taps from ? Or are you using an external supply/SDD-dock ? thx, /v
I didn't add 12 or 3.3V to my connector because my 2.5" (traditional) HDD is labelled as only requiring 5V, but I did make sure to run the ground to all the ground pins. So I have two ground wires going into Sata power adapter (converted a PC 4-wire molex adapter). I just wanted to point out that if someone was making their own adapter, it might not work if some of the ground pins were missing/not connected.
Just to let you know, with newest firmware and latest linux realease it now works just fine with the OCZ SSD //x
This cable should work, it simply uses the USB plug to get the 5V power. However, it's an eSATA plug, so that's for an external case.
The cable I got from http://imall.iteadstudio.com/im130814001.html has two legs. The leg for the power connector does not fit the white slot in your figure, but it does fit a slot behind it towards the center of the board. Please see my attachment with an arrow pointing to it. Will this work OK? Thanks. Lester
I'm wondering if anybody has gotten a Crucial M500 920 GB SSD drive to work? One is working just fine in my laptop, but I can't find it on the Udoo, even though I have everything wired correctly I hope.
I've had zero luck getting my udoo to recognize any hard drive, including a 350GB regular HD or a 256GB Intel SSD. Perhaps I do not have the right SATA cable (see my posting above), or perhaps Ubuntu 11 is not working OK on the udoo (I plan on putting Ubuntu 12 on within a couple of days). Lester
You'll find compatible cable information here: http://www.udoo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=123&start=10#p6458
