I have my Udoobuntu 1.1 system running on a Udon Quad. I can make it send out a wifi signal so other devices can connect to this. I do that by clicking "create new wireless network" from the wireless network dropdown. I gave it a name and no security options just to test with. My MacBook Air has no problem finding it, albeit not as a normal wireless network but as "devices" which became a new category under the dropdown of other networks. I run a server on my Udoo to interface with a M3D printer. I can control it without problems from my macbook air. However my android phone (Nexus 5) does not find the network at all. Ideally I would control the server using that device. How do I find the network of the Udoo?
I managed to solve it already. This guide has been particularly useful ! http://askubuntu.com/questions/180733/how-to-setup-an-access-point-mode-wi-fi-hotspot/180734#180734 The trick is to set up a wireless AP network instead of ad hoc, ad hoc is not supported by android devices. It takes a bit of configuration etc but it is great once its up and running thanks for having a look at this though!
