THE Media server audiophile AND video

    Hi all,

    I plan to assembly a complete media server, for videos and music .

    For videos (already working perfectly, thanks to Stefan Rafin, see XBMC section of the forum) :
    xbmc=> control with xbmc remote on android=> HDMI output => home cinema

    For music audiophile quality:
    FLAC files on MPD => control with mpdroid on android => s/pdif => DAC => hifi amplifier

    So, for listening music with audiophile quality I need to use a digital output. The only one I have is HDMI but impossible to use HDMI with Stereo amplifier or DAC.

    Is someone tried to use both xbmc and mpd ? And what kind of digital output can I use with GPIO ?

    I am interested in this as well. Have you had any luck? I have posted in other forums and got only one reply. Not much info out there. What would make Volumio/Runeaudio hifi??
