    Dear Udoo Team,

    I need your support.

I have got the dedicated Udoo Camera Module "MIPI 5MP AF Camera for QUAD/DUAL" for my Udoo Quad. It is advertised as being able to transfer images with the following resolutions@rates:
    • VGA (320x480) @120fps
    • VGA (640x480) @90fps
    • 720p @60fps
    • 1280x960 @45fps
    • 1080p @30fps
    • QSXGA (2592x1944) @15fps
The camera module did arrive with no user guide so I have searched your website for documentation and found the following webpage, which is unfortunately empty:
    http://www.udoo.org/docs/Resources/UDOO_Camera_Module
Fortunately I have found another tutorial:
    http://elinux.org/UDOO_Camera_Module

In result I have enabled the camera module in the Configuration Tool, then followed the instructions from the tutorial:
    sudo modprobe v4l2loopback video_nr=7 card_label="UDOO Camera Module"
    sudo gst-launch-0.10 mfw_v4lsrc ! ffmpegcolorspace ! v4l2sink device=/dev/video7
so now the camera is recognized as /dev/video7 and I can access it with other programs.

However it only works in a low resolution 640x480 mode and I am almost sure it does run @ max 30fps.
The reason why I bought the camera module in the first place, was to make it capture videos for Motion at least at 720p, preferably at 1080p.

The issue is not related to configuration of Motion. I have connected a HD USB camera (Microsoft HD3000) and it works very well recording at 720p. It looks like the problem with Udoo camera module occurs before the video even gets to Motion.

I have also tried with VLC -> again only 640x480.
I have also tried with Webcam Utility -> the same result, only 640x480 is available.

It looks in the moment, like the maximum the Udoo camera module actually can provide, was rather miserable 640x480.

Could you please explain me, how can I use the full potential of the Udoo camera module? How can I choose to use a higher resolution? What command should I type in in terminal?

    Thank you in advance.
    Best regards, Dachu

    Hi Andrea!
    Thank you for your reply.
I cannot answer that question anymore. :( At the time I had like 30 tabs open trying to solve it by myself. I believe I was just going through the whole Docs webpage and the section for the camera module was just empty, so started to look for the answer in Google. However, now the section in Docs redirects to the existing page, so maybe it has been corrected in the meantime?
Thank you, I am counting on you!
    Best regards, Dachu
