Although I can't give you a definitive answer, I wouldn't know why not. AFAIK the X86 will run any distro, so if it runs on your favourite distro I would say it would run on the X86.
Dear @Rune Andresen, I've just checked https://docs.opnsense.org/manual/hardware.html and seems there wouldn't be any problems.
