Gees, even the Udoo installer is compressed using a GPL'd compression tool. What is wrong with zip file format? 1.04 was zipped. Sorry, this is too many violations of having a clean, BSD-license only environment. It's bad enough I have to use nano, but this is too much.
If you make the API/interface for getting the firmware into the nvram public, I would be willing to examine getting Open Firmware working. It'll have to be a backseat to the main thrust of my project, but I am interested in having a BSD-licensed firmware on open hardware. I'd certainly perk up even more interest if Udoo could be convinced to produce a RISC-V SBC.
By public I mean documented, not embedded in GPL'd code. I subscribe to a broader interpretation of the term "derived" to include knowledge. I do not review GPL code in order to obtain knowledge, although many others believe this to be acceptable.
