I don't know if this is related to Win10 or not, but it might. When I plug in the Neo on a USB port (that works for my phone and other USB devices) and follow the instructions for USB Direct Connection it doesn't work since the RNDIS Kitl is never detected. When I open the Device Manager there are no exclamation marks and there is no "Other devices" subtree. I know there are lots of complaints about drivers compatibility in Windows 10 so I suspect this might be the problem. I'd like to hear from other users who try it and get it to work though.
Thanks for your input! I hope I don't have a defective device I've tried it on another Win10 (laptop) with no luck. Edit: I've also tried following this tutorial (basically to make Win10 accept unsigned drivers) but that didn't work either.
Same here, Neo works pefect with W10. Didn't had to install any drivers. Do you see it powered when you plug it in? I'm not sure how much power it drains (that is one thing that definely should be stated more clearly in the datasheet) If your PC runs W10, these USB ports should be v2.0 and should power it without extra power adapter(it works with mine)
Alright, great news, I'm back home and it works perfectly on my PC. I think it has more to do with my parents' computer than the Neo. Thanks to everyone who replied. Just for the record, yes it was powered normally via USB, it just wasn't detected in any way by the computer.
Dear Julien, in Windows 10 RNDIS Kitl is called just RNDIS, was that your problem maybe? It's not Win10 related since my PC runs Windows 10 and works fine on it.
Thanks for your help but it wasn't even that, the device never appeared in the device manager so I couldn't pick any driver for it. Side note, as an Android app developer I had the same kind of difficulties when I tried to use my Nexus phone as a debugging devic for adb, hence my conclusion that it just my parents' Windows installation being weird. I had zero trouble installing it on my own Win10 at home.
Yes ! I'm back at my parents and I've found a solution, by using one of the USB ports on the back of the computer instead of the front. Maybe the front is USB1, I don't know. It works, that's all I care about! Thanks for your support.
As a strong rule of thumb DO NOT USE USB PORTS ON FRONT CASE for anything besides charging. And especially updating, flashing, copying files etc. Use the USB ports that are directly on the motherboard.
