I am studying the max power I can draw from the USB 3.0 ports on the board. I have a device consuming up to 900mA and I want to make sure it functions well under load.

I see from the schematics that you are using an AP2142AMP chip with the 2 outputs bridged together for each USB port power supply. From the diodes inc datasheet, I can see that the recommended operating current is 0.5A, max 0.7A. Does that mean each USB port can drive up to 1A loads reliably on the board? Or is the current limit for the whole chip?

Hi @Antony Ducommun, the USB 3.0 port is rated for 900mA. This is the maximum power a slave device should sink over a USB 3.0 connection, as per the USB specs.
