Hello, I have been using my Raspberry Pi with RaspBMC for the past several weeks and am, overall, satisfied. It seems that whenever I run into a problem, it is only because there is not enough computational resources. I am wondering if there is a specialized XBMC build in the works for the Udoo, as well? Perhaps a prototype could be given to the XBMC community? It seems that the Udoo Dual or Udoo Quad would be a superb option for running XBMC with numerous add-ons. Furthermore, will the Udoo support TV tuners? I believe that RaspBMC supports tuners via the MythTV add-on, and I believe that, given enough time, similar support could be offered for the Udoo. I'm not sure who the correct person to contact in the XBMC community would be, but I'm sure some judicious research would yield profitable results. I am willing to spend some time doing the research, if asked. Currently, much of my time is taken by making some customizations for XBMC (RaspBMC) such that it fits my needs. Thanks for your time and the amazing product. I look forward to ordering several.
One of our beta tester is working on this since a while now. Also the UDOO team has a XBMC build in the works and in both cases, we have XBMC working smoothly on UDOO, way much better compared on the Raspberry Pi. You could expect a XBMC build for UDOO to be released soon!
andcmp, Could udoo (dual) run the skin aeon nox ? the raspberry lacked that awesome skin. keep up the good work! thanks guys
Could someone explain and discribe how xbmc was installed and working on UDOO ubuntu 11.10, I have been trying to install version of xbmc, for intance old xbmc ubuntu releases / raspberry but no luck. There are dependencies that prevent the installation of xbmc. Some help would be very helpfull thanks
Same here, I have XBMC installed on dual board running Android. Hell, the movies play back is slow. I guess it didn't using the GPU for decoding. Also, I have the quad board running Linux, don't know how to install XBMC on it. Please let me know how can I make use of the GPU for the movies play back.
tried to compile it for udoo .. but i dont find the common package -> libcec-dev mb i compile libcec by myself for udoo getting the src from git://github.com/Pulse-Eight/libcec.git lateron.
hey nexxy, do you have try to play 1080p movies? is it very slow? can say what do you have do? thanks
Did you use Android or Linux ? I think Linux would be better (better use of the HW) my xbmc debian configure flags are : --enable-gles --disable-sdl --disable-x11 --disable-xrandr --disable-openmax --disable-optical-drive --disable-dvdcss --disable-joystick --disable-debug --disable-crystalhd --disable-vtbdecoder --disable-vaapi --disable-vdpau --disable-pulse --disable-projectm --enable-optimizations --enable-libcec --enable-player=omxplayer
i have tried android, but it doesn't work very well... now i have installed linux on udoo quad and waiting while xbmc is compiled. do you use the "Linaro Ubuntu 11.10" image for xbmc or have you build your own? thanks
using the std image .. but there are many many many missing packages .. you will have to compile them on your self .. ... did you ever try a more current version of linaro ? .. 11.10 is about 2 years old
no, i have only tried 11.10 and i have installed the most packages via apt-get... if i use your configure command, i have the following error : Do you know this error?
Have been able to install XBMC on Android, Ubuntu still dependencies problems, unable to install But with the new image for Android from the donwload page from Udoo.org I got XBMC working. Original image with the Quad wasn't working at all. Speeds seems normal, through SMB client, NFS is slow, but only tested with avi xdiv divx and mkv. But it is a start.
I think i did it .. ----------------------- XBMC built successfully ----------------------- nex@imx6-qsdl:~/tmp/xbmc$ ls CONTRIBUTING.md Makefile Makefile.include.in aclocal.m4 bootstrap.mk config.log configure docs language m4 sounds userdata xbmc.bin CONTRIBUTORS Makefile.in README addons build-aux config.status configure.in doxygen_resources lib media system xbmc LICENSE.GPL Makefile.include XBMC.xcodeproj bootstrap codegenerator.mk configexec.txt copying.txt gitrev.sh libtool project tools xbmc-xrandr.c nex@imx6-qsdl:~/tmp/xbmc$ sudo make install Copying XBMC binary to /usr/lib/xbmc/ You can run XBMC with the command 'xbmc' Copying support and legal files... Done! Copying system files to /usr/share/xbmc Copying bindings to /usr/include/xbmc ... but i cant run it :/ it says : CAESinkOSS:EnumerateDevicesEx - No OSS mixer device present : /dev/mixer Error: Failed to open the audio device : /dev/dsp .. i dont know anything about udoo gui + audio devs .. so it think that i cant do anything here, except waiting for some udoo devs to tell me what to do Greetings Nex
There are some Freescale Multimedia patches/drivers I think. I've not looked into it that closely so couldn't be more specific than that but might be suitable for you if you don't stick to the stock Linaro Ubuntu provided.
well i just know how to fix compiling problems and all kind of bash problems ^^ but i dont know how to install a driver or mixer for this sound dev
just to update those following this thread, it seems the XBMC release from the Beta testing team has come out viewtopic.php?f=23&t=357
